Clethra Hummingbird

From the United States, where it is known as the sweet pepper bush, this delightful variety is more compact than the species (C. Alnifolia) at about 3 feet high and wide. The glossy greeen foliage is nice, but its big moment is those 6 weeks in mid to late summer when it is covered in white flower spikes like so many clove-scented candles. Sun or semi-shade. Moist but well drained soil. 3 feet. 2L

Exquisite in appearance and in its scent when in full flower.

Prune (quite hard, if you like) in late winter or early spring, as it flowers on the current year's growth.
