A real show-off of a plant, tall and magnificent. In early to mid summer clouds of fluffy lilac flowers float serenely atop arrestingly jet black stems, which explains the name. The ferny foliage is another plus point for a plant which pretty much has it all. Sun or semi-shade. Rich moist soil is best. 4 to 6 feet. Currently available ex 9 cm pot.

Generally doesn't need staking, so robust is this big boy. Very striking at the back of a border or as a specimen plant.
