HEMEROCALLIS CHERRY VALENTINE

HEMEROCALLIS CHERRY VALENTINE

5.50

Hemerocallis Cherry Valentine has large palest cherry-blossom pink flowers with petals edged in a darker cherry pink with more cherry in the centre and a green throat. It’s a real beauty of a daylily and, though each flower lasts only for a day, it maintains a long-running show of flowers throughout the summer, as each flowering stem produces a large number of buds. Full sun. Any reasonable soil. 2 ½ feet. 3 litre pot.

Sumptuous, this one. Plus, as bonus extras, it is evergreen and a rebloomer! Cherry Valentine is a Trimmer introduction, released in 1999, and is a tetraploid hybrid with parentage from hemerocallis Ruby Sentinel, Enchanting Blessing and Dragon’s Eye). You can find out more about Dan and Jane Trimmer, who have introduced more named varieties of daylily than you can shake a stick at (400 + and counting!), and their nursery Water Mill Gardens in Florida here.

And below you can enjoy a video visit to the nursery (not great picture quality, sadly).

Easy to care for - just remove any old flowers as they go over and remove older or damaged foliage in autumn or spring.

Hemerocallis Cherry Valentine is a hardy perennial plant with strappy leaves and pale pink flowers with dark pink edges and centre in summer suitable for sun.
