AVAILABLE AGAIN EARLY SUMMER. An absolutely stunning variety of this clump-forming perennial with striking divided black leaves (they start out green but change colour as they develop). In late summer Actaea Black Negligee is topped by arching spikes of pure white scented flowers. Great name, too. Prefers some shade. Moist soil. To 3 ft. 2 litre pot.

Black seems to be the 'in' colour at the moment. Black Negligee is a lovely specimen - not just black, but black and white!

Actaea used to be known as Cimicifuga and has a common namne of bugbane which we assume derives from its insect-repellent properties, which we have yet to assess in any meaningfully scientific manner!

Not much maintenance required: just cut back old growth in winter.
