AGAPANTHUS MIDNIGHT STAR

AGAPANTHUS MIDNIGHT STAR

from 4.50

This splendid agapanthus is also known as Navy Blue, which rather gives away the intense dark colour of the large flowerheads which are held on erect stems over the strappy foliage in mid to late summer. Midnight Star somehow sounds rather more darkly mysterious though, doesn’t it? One of the very best and very hardy. Full sun. Any reasonable soil. 36 in. 2 litre pot.

Agapanthus like quite rich soil, so if you can provide that, they will be happy. They also quite like having their roots constrained, so they do very well indeed in pots and tubs. Which is nice.

We find that Midnight Star is very good at flowering from a young age and will increase its number of flowering stems year on year as the plant settles in and gets larger.

From the Gardener's World site, here is an article that tells you all you need to know about growing agapanthus successfully.

Agapanthus Midnight Star or Navy Blue is a hardy perennial with thick strappy leaves and round dark blue flowerheads in summer suitable for a sunny position.
