Late-flowering Japanese anemones bring welcome fresh colour to late summer and autumn with their delicate cup-shaped flowers. Rotkäppchen (or Red Riding Hood, as you may know her) has semi-double dark rosy pink flowers, probably the deepest of any anemone, on a compact plant. Sun or semi-shade. Any reasonable soil. 18 in. 2 litre pot.
We used to find that Pamina sold very well and find this one does the same, probably because the darker shade of pink is very distinctive. Plus it has a very long flowering period, often taking you right to the edge of winter.
Her compact stature makes Rotkäppchen an attractive option when you haven't got the space in your garden that some of the other larger varieties of japanese anemone require.
Easy to look after: just cut back old stems to ground level in winter or early spring.
Anemone Rotkäppchen is a hardy perennial Japanese anemone with semi-double dark pink flowers in late summer and early autumn suitable for sun or semi-shade.
