CAMPANULA IRIDESCENT BELLS

CAMPANULA IRIDESCENT BELLS

5.00

CURRENTLY SOLD OUT. An exceptionally long flowering season, starting in May, is what sets this campanula apart from its peers, especially if you help things along with a little deadheading. Shiny violet purple buds open up to icy blue flowers with hints of violet. Iridescent bells, as it says on the tin. Now that’s nice. Sun or semi-shade. Any reasonable soil. 24 in. 1 litre pot.

The variety Iridescent Bells has been on the market since 2012 but it was only in 2015 that it really burst on the scene, topping the list as the hottest new entry in the RHS Plant Finder in that year. See Graham Rice's blog for further details.

Campanula Latifolia, Campanula Takesimana and Campanula Punctata were the species involved in the cross-breeding that went into the development of the new variety. You can certainly see the parentage in this plant.

Plant care is straightforward. Just remove spent flowering spikes to sustain the flowering season. Cut back before winter.

Campanula Iridescent Bells is a hardy perennial with pale ice blue bell shaped flowers from purple buds throughout summer suitable for sun or semi-shade.
