Dicentra (Lamprocapnos) Spectabilis, an elegant and much loved plant, forms a mound of fern-like deeply-divided foliage from which, in spring and early summer, emerge gracefully arching stems hung with heart-shaped flowers of deep rosy pink with protruding white inner petals. Hence the common name bleeding hearts. Sun or semi-shade. Moist soil. To 24 in. 2 litre pot.

By late summer the plant will tend to die back. You can cut back spent stems then if they look untidy.

Another plant that has had its name changed - it's now Lamprocapnos rather than Dicentra, but we are still a bit behind the times.
