EPIMEDIUM VERSICOLOR SULPHUREUM

EPIMEDIUM VERSICOLOR SULPHUREUM

from 5.00

A good choice for groundcover in a shady spot, even a dry one such as under trees, Epimedium Versicolor Sulphureum will spread to form a pretty much evergreen carpet of heart-shaped leaves, tinged with bronze, which take on a more reddish hue in autumn and winter. Spring brings dancing clusters of little daffodil-yellow flowers. Charming but tough. Partial shade. Any well drained soil. 12 in. 2 litre or 1 litre pot.

The red stems on the new leaves add to its charms. Nothing much to do in terms of plant care other than perhaps give it a tidy up in spring.

Epimedium x Versicolor Sulphureum is one of our favourites, as it shows unusual and pleasing vigour, quickly forming a substantial clump of foliage against which the flowers diusplay themselves over a long period.

We have the German breeder Heinz Klose to thank for devlipong this variety, He is the man responsible for a number of other popular introductions, including the lovely Frohnleiten.

Epimedium x Versicolor Sulphureum is a hardy perennial plant with red tinged heart shaped leaves and yellow flowers in spring suitable for dry light shade.
