ERYNGIUM BLUE HOBBIT

ERYNGIUM BLUE HOBBIT

5.50

SORRY, CURRENTLY SOLD OUT. We suppose the Tolkien reference in the name Eryngium Blue Hobbit is the giveaway that this is a dwarf variety of sea holly, and it does look rather stunning holding its blue globe-like flowers on stiff silvery-blue stems over a basal rosette of dark green. And this it does in some profusion over a very long period from around June, forming a near perfect sphere of flowering magnificence. Full sun. Any well drained soil. 12 in. 2 litre pot.

We do like our eryngiums; this is a real little stunner which would look good in a container as well as in the border.

Blue Hobbit is a translation of the original cultivar name Blauer Zwerg, so we assume this is a variety developed in a German speaking country. We are embarrassed to admit we don't know who was responsible for breeding it - if you know, do tell.

Eryngium Blue Hobbit is a hardy compact rounded perennial with a rosette of dark green leaves and silver blue spiky flowers in summer suitable for full sun.
