BUDDLEIA BUZZ CANDY PINK

BUDDLEIA BUZZ CANDY PINK

5.50

Now most people (and butterflies) like buddleia, but it can get a bit too big for the average garden. Problem solved – cheery little Buzz Candy Pink only gets to three or four feet tall, comes into flower earlier than traditional varieties and keeps going. Nice shade of pink as billed. Really good in a pot. Sun or semi-shade. Any reasonable soil. 36 – 48 in. 2 litre pot.

Treat Buzz like you would any other buddleia, cutting back old flower heads as they finish, and pruning back hard in early spring. If you do the latter, Buzz buddleias will remain nice and compact.

The Buzz series has been available in the UK since 2009: they are cultivars of good old Buddleia Davidii, developed by Charles Valin at Thompson and Morgan. Now he is also the clever man responsible for the Illumination series crosses between Digitalis and Isoplexis. A bit of a ground breaker is Charles.

Since the Buzz buddleias came on the scene, a number of other dwarf cultivars have been introduced, but the Buzz varieties can probably be safely regarded as the ofriginal and best.

Now we all know that butterflies like buddleia a lot, but so do other insects. Here is a video of a hummingbird hawkmoth enjoying a bit of a buzz on our stand at a show in Dorset:

Buddleia Buzz Candy Pink is a hardy compact shrub with conical scented pink flower spikes in summer that attract butterflies suitable for sun or semi-shade.
