READY SUMMER 2019. Shrubby potentillas are a good call for a long flowering plant that will tolerate poor soil and dry conditions. There are many varieties to choose from, but we have a sentimental reason for choosing to grow the recent introduction Danny Boy, as that is the name of our French Briard dog. Forms a compact rounded small-leaved shrub which will be decorated from early summer to autumn by open cerise pink flowers. Prefers full sun. Any reasonable soil. 15 in. 2 litre pot.

Plant care is not difficult - in early spring prune back to about half height and additionally cut back around one third of the branches to ground level. That should keep things nice and healthy. Remove any dead twigs or branches when required at other times of the year.

Shrubby potentilla can make quite a nice low - and rather colourful - hedge if planted in a row about 18 inches apart.

Potentilla Fruticosa Danny Boy is a compact hardy deciduous shrub with saucer shaped cerise pink flowers from early summer to autumn suitable for full sun.
